Fernside is a lovely cottage, with stunning views from all windows, situated in a beautiful part of the country. The cottage is very clean and offered everything we needed for a perfect holiday. The outside seating to the front provides wonderful views of the hills and moors, and the pleasant, private garden to the rear has comfortable furniture for lazy days. One of the best cottages we have stayed in.

Fernside Cottage was a great place to stay for a short break in this lovely part of the UK. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped, with a wonderful view from the upstairs sitting room. The cottage was easy to find and had a parking space. There was also outside space, but unfortunately the weather did not allow us to enjoy this facility.

Pauline is a lovely host, the cottage is so comfortable and clean, the location is very good to explore the Dales and views from the lounge are wonderful and very relaxing.
Pauline also provides fresh flowers and tea and cake on arrival also a big bowl of fruit, very nice extra`s made us feel very welcome. We would highly recommend this property

We recently stayed for a week at Fernside Cottage and have nothing but praise for this fab accommodation! It is ideally situated to explore all that this beautiful part of the country has to offer. We found the accommodation to be of a very high standard, extremely comfortable and well equipped with everything you could possibly need, a real home-from-home! The views from the cottage are breathtaking, a treat to wake up to every morning. Pauline gave us a lovely welcome, and she was very helpful when needed – she has obviously worked extremely hard to make the cottage a great place to stay, and has deservedly been given a Gold Award for her efforts! We would have no hesitation in recommending Fernside Cottage to family and friends and can honestly say that we were sad to leave. Thank you so much Pauline!

Pauline’s cottage is brilliantly located for exploring this part of the Dales. The cottage itself is compact and beautifully kept inside. Pauline was helpful from pre-booking to check-out and gave us a warm welcome. We would definitely recommend staying here.

The cottage itself was immaculate and very comfortable to be in. Kitchen/bathroom etc done to a high standard. Location was ideal with amazing views from the living room. Such a nice sight to wake up to every morning! Pauline was a great host who added a lot of thoughtful touches, which made this stay one of the most hassle-free and comfortable stays I’ve had. Would definitely stay again if I was in the area!

Absolutely fantastic cottage, and well worth a visit. I have just finished a weeks stay at Fernside and what a relaxing and peaceful stay I had. The cottage is well equipped and had a very comfortable bed and sofa, from the upstairs lounge with its stunning views. To the lovely kitchen with its patio door that open on a nice seated area, where you can drink your morning tea whilst taking in the views. You have a private back garden which has chairs, loungers and a washing line. Pauline is very welcoming, helpful and will show you in the cottage and the kitchen. I had beautiful fresh flowers, fruit teas, a bowl of fruit and milk waiting for me which is a lovely touch. If your in this area this cottage is a must, I could not have asked for anything more of my stay. Once again thank you Pauline for a lovely relaxing stay

We were looking for a self catering cottage near Skipton and the Dales for a few days hiking and relaxation. Having found Fernside Cottage, we will most definitely come here again. It is an ideal place for two people, fully equipped with state-of-the-art kitchen, bathroom and very comfortable double bed, all furnished with impeccable taste. And then there are the views, from the sitting room, a broad panoramic vista of the Dales in front of the village whilst the view of the sunsets from the bedroom had us running upstairs with cameras almost every night. Fernside Cottage is located in Thornton in Craven,some 15 minutes drive from Skipton. There are no shops or pubs in the village but you can stock up on everything you could possibly need at the Keelham Farm Shop on the outskirts of Skipton. There is a bus service to Skipton, but a car is indispensable. The cottage is run by Pauline, a wonderful and friendly hostess who has made a tremendous effort to provide a real home from home for her guests at the cottage.

Fabulous holiday in very well appointed accommodation with stunning views of the countryside. Perfect location for all sorts of activities and interests. We are sure to come again but don’t suppose we’ll get fabulous weather again.

I spent 3 nights at Fernside Cottage when I needed some peace and quiet. What a find! The cottage is perfect – small, very well fitted out and with stunning views over the Dales. I could not have asked for a better setting for my relaxing few days. On my next visit I will stay longer and do some sightseeing.

Fantastic cottage in a fabulous location. It was immaculate and beautifully set out for guests. Absolutely everything we could need was there and Pauline was lovely and very helpful giving us information on places we might like to go and visit. Cant wait to book up again for another stay.

Had a fantastic 4 night stay at Fernside. The cottage is very cosy, spotlessly clean and Pauline supplies some lovely ‘extras’ too. The idea of having the lounge upstairs so that you can sit (on the lovely leather electric reclining chairs!) and look at the glorious views, is superb. The location is perfect, very central for lots of places to visit but peaceful too. When circumstances allow we will definitely be back.

Fernside Cottage stands head and shoulders above most other self catering accommodation. The owner, Pauline, obviously has a passion for providing the very best quality for her guests, with their every need catered for. We enjoyed a friendly welcome when we arrived. The location is ideal for exploring the Dales with stunning places to explore within an easy drive. We are looking forward to going back again.

We had one of the best holidays of our lives whilst staying at Fernside Cottage. The cottage itself was perfect, it was very clean, high quality, beautifully decorated and had all the gadgets you could need (including 3 TV’s!). We were greeted with fresh flowers, fruit and free range eggs as a little extra by the lovely owners. Pauline (the owner) was there for any problems should we need her for anything yet allowed us the peaceful holiday we desired. The parking was ample and the views were AMAZING.

Moving on to local activities. There was so much to do- we have booked in again for next year in order to finish our ‘to do’ list. We visited Skipton Castle, Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, Went on a canal trip, walked parts of the penine way, had lunch at the local pubs and so much more. All in all a great place to explore the dales from and to recharge your batteries.

I was expecting good things from Fernside Cottage but the reality exceeded by miles. Beautifully presented, stunning location and the warmest of welcomes. I cannot recommend Pauline’s cottage highly enough. We will definitely be returning only question is how soon can we get back there? The answer is probably not soon enough!
