Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival

SO successful was a festival of food and drink last summer – it attracted 12,000 people – that it is to be held again later this year. The the two-day junket is to be set at Funkirk Farm in Carleton on Saturday and Sunday, July 22 and 23.

Festival patron Yorkshire-born James Martin will be demonstrating his art again on the Sunday and John Torode – of “Buttery Biscuit Base” Masterchef fame – will be featured on the Saturday.

We had one of the best holidays of our lives whilst staying at Fernside Cottage. The cottage itself was perfect, it was very clean, high quality, beautifully decorated and had all the gadgets you could need (including 3 TV’s!). We were greeted with fresh flowers, fruit and free range eggs as a little extra by the lovely owners. Pauline (the owner) was there for any problems should we need her for anything yet allowed us the peaceful holiday we desired. The parking was ample and the views were AMAZING.

Moving on to local activities. There was so much to do- we have booked in again for next year in order to finish our ‘to do’ list. We visited Skipton Castle, Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, Went on a canal trip, walked parts of the penine way, had lunch at the local pubs and so much more. All in all a great place to explore the dales from and to recharge your batteries.
